⚠️ Safety First: Check Before You Travel When inclement weather occurs on weekends, please check our parish website (https://www.cclcparishes.org) and social media (https://www.facebook.com/HCJParish) for announcements regarding Mass and other parish events.
Weekend Masses (Saturday evening and Sunday morning) generally continue as scheduled, but your safety is paramount. If travel conditions are dangerous, you are not obliged to attend Mass.
🙏 Spiritual Participation at home.
Even if you cannot attend Mass in person, you are encouraged to participate spiritually at home:

✝️ Prayer for Spiritual Communion.
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
This prayer allows you to unite yourself to the Eucharist spiritually when attending Mass is impossible.
📜 Canon Law Guidance Code of Canon Law 1248 §2 states:
If participation in the eucharistic celebration becomes impossible because of the absence of a sacred minister or for another grave cause, it is strongly recommended that the faithful take part in a liturgy of the word if such a liturgy is celebrated in a parish church or other sacred place according to the prescripts of the diocesan bishop, or that they devote themselves to prayer for a suitable time alone, as a family, or, as the occasion permits, in groups of families.
🏛 Existing Parish Policy.
When inclement weather and unsafe road conditions exist, Holy Childhood of Jesus will be closed when indicated by Harbor Springs Public Schools closing. Adoration and any other events scheduled that day will be cancelled. We plan to open our parish office as scheduled the following day, weather permitting. Mass will NOT be cancelled. - Parish office and other events follow school closure notifications.
- Safe travel is your responsibility; do not feel obligated to attend Mass if unsafe.
- Spiritual participation at home is encouraged through Scripture, devotionals, and watching Mass on TV.
- Pray the Prayer for Spiritual Communion if you cannot attend in person.
