What is Children's Liturgy of the Word ? Liturgy of the Word for Children is a worship experience geared especially for children. It follows the Mass, is engaging and interactive, and allows children to learn, pray and worship in a way that is child-centered. Children become comfortable with hearing the Readings, Gospel, Homily and Prayers in words they understand and they begin to develop their own understanding of the Mass and God’s Word speaking to them. They see and experience the Mass the way Jesus wants us to come to Him…as children. How does Liturgy of the Word for Children take place? After the Introductory Rites, children ages 3-8 will be invited to follow the adult leader of Liturgy of the Word for Children to a designated worship space which has been set aside for them. There they will follow the Mass – but in a child-centered way. After the Prayers of the Faithful, they will return as a group with their teacher and sit back down with their families to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with the entire congregation. What about visitors and guests? All children ages 3-8 are welcome and encouraged to participate. This is an exciting and extremely worthwhile program. How can I help out? Disciples are needed as leaders….there are only two requirements to serve as a leader – the love of children and the love of our Catholic Faith. We need you.
